Fonda, Christopher Yates. Served as a surgeon in Captain Yates Company NY militia 1812. Military bounty certificate for widow Sarah Fonda 1852. He was born in 1790 at Schenectady, NY and died 26 Aug 1845 at Claiborne, Monroe County, AL. He married his 2nd. wife, Sarah Louise Boatright Black at NC on 23 Oct 1838 in Monroe County, AL. He is buried in Monroe County, AL.
William Maury Fontaine was born in Louisa County, VA Jan. 16, 1793 and died in Clarke County on Jan. 27, 1872. He was a Sergeant in Capt. Isaac Rapalje's company of militia under the command of Col. G. H. Nixon during the War of 1812; he entered service at Mt. Vernon on the Mobile River on February 5, 1814 and served until July 8, having been promoted to Quarter Master Sergeant on May 2, 1814 (National Archives Card No. 38951970; Rowland, Mississippi in the War of 1812, page 167). It has been suggested that he was connected to commercial interests in Mobile which led to his commission as a quartermaster agent for the army. Fontaine married Elizabeth Garnett Pearson (1799-1864) in Clarke County April 6, 1816; their ten children were all born in south Alabama . His grave in the Choctaw Corners Cemetery in Clarke County, AL was marked on 26 July, 2008 by the AS Daughters of 1812. For more info. contact Randolph Currie, a descendant of Sgt. Fontaine: mailto:

This cemetery is on the Alabama Historical Register. Martin Franklin was married in Baldwin County, AL 12 Feb 1824 to Nancy Ann Stapleton. Marked 11 Sept, 2006 by AS Daughters of 1812.
