Orr, William; War of 1812. Buried Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega, AL. Orr was born 22 Aug 1771 in Mecklenburg, NC and married Sarah Anderson, daughter of Captain James Anderson, a Revolutionary War soldier, on 31 Dec 1803 in S.C. William Orr died in Talladega, AL on 2 July 1861. Children Anderson Orr, Sarah Ann Orr (James Montgomery), James Laird Orr, William Craig Orr, John Columbus Orr and Caroline Elizabeth (Hugh Montgomery). William Orr served as a Private in the GA Militia (Milledgeville) during the War of 1812 in Captain John Irwin's Troop of Dragons, part of a squadron commanded b Maj. Frederick Freeman. Company muster rolls begin 22 Aug 1813 and continue to final muster roll on which William Orr is listed, 2 March 1814, showing 162 days service for which pay was $107.53.
